Dianne McGuire's Endorsements
Dianne McGuire has been endorsed by the following organizations:
The Ilinois Federation of Teachers
The Illinois Federation of Teachers represents 90,000 men and women who are teachers and paraprofessionals in school districts throughout Illinois; faculty and staff at Illinois’ community colleges and universities; and public employees under every state elected constitutional officer, and retirees. The IFT has an abiding interest in the well being not only of public employees, but of public institutions, most specifically public education. They support legislation that supports the children and families they serve. As a fellow educator, it is an especially wonderful honor to have this endorsement. I will work hard as the next State Representative for District 96 to fulfill their trust and support.
The AFL-CIO Committee on Public Education
With over a million members employed in the State of Illinois, the AFL-CIO Committee on Political Education (COPE) endorsement means a great deal to any candidate. This organization represents working men and women in the State of Illinois in almost every field of endeavor, from all backgrounds and education levels, as they strive to achieve justice and respect in the workplace, goals shared by all employees and professionals. It is an honor to receive their endorsement as a candidate and I value their efforts to help with my candidacy.
The Illinois League of Conservation Voters
The League of Conservation Voters is the political arm of the environmental movement in Illinois. Through elections, they actively support candidates who promote “sustainable economic development” and oppose candidates who vote for anti environmental legislation. To earn the support of the League of Conservation Voters is indeed an honor. As we all strive to minimize our environmental “footprint” on this earth, we owe a debt of thanks to groups such as the League who are on the frontline, raising awareness and advocating for a healthier and cleaner Illinois.
Asian American Action Fund of Greater Chicago
The Asian American Action Fund of Greater Chicago is a state and federal Political Action Committee founded in 2007. Their mission is to encourage Asian Pacific Americans (APA) to participate in the political process and support APA and non-APA candidates who are supportive on issues of concern to the APA community. In District 96, Asian Americans make up approximately 14% of the population, making this a very powerful and welcome endorsement.
Italian American Political Coalition
The Italian American Political Coalition is an organization of civic, professional and business leaders dedicated to the empowerment of the Italian-American community. As an endorsed candidate, my name will be included in the February issues of Fra Noi, the Chicagoland Italian-American newspaper; on Italian broadcasts; and in the IAPC website. They have a data base of 230,000 registered Italian-American voters in the State of Illinois, which they will utilize on my behalf.
Illinois Education Association/IPACE Endorsement
In December 1853 a group of educators convened a meeting in the town of Bloomington to discuss the educational needs of the state. As a result, the Illinois State Teachers’ Association, later (1936) renamed the Illinois Education Association was formed. Today the IEA has over 125,000 members and is comprised of classroom teachers, educational support professionals, higher education staff and faculty, students, and retired association members. They continue a long tradition of advocacy on behalf of the state’s public school employees while supporting innovations that will improve our ability to educate children. I was privileged to serve the Association in a variety of leadership roles during my career as a classroom teacher and am honored to receive their endorsement.
Plumbers and Pipefitters, Local #501
The United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada or “UA” as it is commonly known is a multi-craft union whose members are engaged in the fabrication, installation and servicing of piping systems. There are approximately 326,000 highly-skilled United Association members who belong to over 300 individual local unions across North America. The importance of the contribution they make to every facet of our lives cannot be overestimated. The P.A.C. of Local #501, under the leadership of Scott Roscoe, has honored me with their endorsement for the upcoming general election.
