Dianne McGuire Fundraiser - White Eagle Owner's Club - April 10, 2008

Despite the inclement weather on the evening of April 10, nearly 175 loyal supporters of Dianne’s attended her fundraiser at the White Eagle Owner’s Club on making it a huge success.

The cocktail reception was catered by The Guilty Party Catering, the small business she and her husband, Fred Greenwood, have owned since 1996. The guests enjoyed the tasty appetizers including sliced beef tenderloin mini sandwiches and other gastronomic delights. The open bar was tended by volunteer Stacia Hill.

Dianne received generous support from many labor organizations including the Illinois federation of Teachers, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, the Naperville Fraternal Order of Police, Bricklayers Union #73, Painters Council #30, Roofers Local #11; and Carpenters, Locals 1185 and 1307.

Distinguished guests in attendance included Suzyn Price, School District 203 Board President; retired State Representative J. Glenn Schneider; Scott Harper, candidate for Congressional District 13; Steve Paglia, candidate for Disrict 5 DuPage County Forest Preserve Board; Gary Nowak, candidate for State Representative in District 46; Bob Piekert and Michelle Barton, Chair and Vice Chair of the DuPage County Democratic Party; Amy Tauchmann, Executive Director of the DuPage Democratic Party; Tom Wronski, Chair of the Naperville Township Democrats; Nick Palmer, Chair of the Wheatland Township Democrats; Louis Kosiba, Executive Director of the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund; Max Bochmann, elected Trustee for the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund; and Lee Betterman, former President of the Illinois Education Association.

Entertainment for the evening included a short comedy sketch donated by Dave Sinker, owner of the Comedy Shrine located in Naperville, and the drawing for a number of raffle prizes and a 50/50 drawing, which was won by Scott Harper, candidate for the 13th Congressional District. Deejay Jason Robinson provided the musical enjoyment, playing Dianne’s favorite playlist.
John Meis, longtime friend and colleague of Dianne’s, made the introduction, which was followed by a short welcome to her guests and a brief speech.

The campaign finance goals were more than met with this most successful fundraiser, enabling Friends of Dianne McGuire to continue to wage a successful campaign for State Representative.

DIANNE MCGUIRE ON HER WAY TO STATE REPRESENTATIVE FROM DISTRICT 96
February 6, 2008

Today Dianne McGuire’s campaign for State Representative from District 96 begins in earnest after receiving 12,544 votes in the Democratic Primary.

Her opponent will be Darlene Senger who defeated Michael Bowler.  The combined vote total for the Republican candidates was 10,599.

“I’d like to extend my congratulations to Darlene on her primary victory,” McGuire said.  “I would also like to thank the people of Aurora and Naperville who came out and voted yesterday.  I look forward to a spirited campaign.”

McGuire, a local teacher for over 25 years with Naperville School District 203 and a small business owner, looks forward to working with the citizens of Naperville, Aurora, and Warrenville as she campaigns.  “As a retired educator, I know from working with children and adults what families in our community want and what they need”, McGuire said.  “I want to deliver legislation that will positively impact their lives.”

Dianne McGuire wants to be the voice in Springfield for the Naperville and Aurora communities.  Issues that will be important to Dianne McGuire as she campaigns in the District will be striving to maintain the educational excellence in Districts 203 and 204, seeking additional funding for our districts to ease the burden on local tax payers, promoting a strong business climate, and demanding the funding to end congestion on Route 59.
